THE
RESULT OF THE RESEARCH
A.
Data Description
To understand this research
easly, it was described based on only one variable. It was writing a descriptive text, and also was continued to the testing
hypothesis. It would be described further as follow Result of Writing Descriptive Text.
Result of writing test that the researcher had given test about writing descriptive paragraph. The reseacher used test as an instrument to collect the data. It consist of 5 indicators. They were content, organization, grammar, language, generic structure. After
the students finished their writing test, the researcher
corrected these results and gave score for each students, the following data were obtained:
The highest score is 95 and the lowest score is 35, then after obtaining the highest and lowest scores, these scores are
used to determine the score of
the interval as follow:

have been given for the fifth semester students of English department IAIN
Padangsidimpua, the score each of them could be seen in the table below:

Based on table IV, the total
scores of the students’ ability in writing descriptive text at fifth semester students of English department IAIN
Padangsidimpuan test was 2.713. It can be also be seen that there were students
have got 100 as the highest score and there
were students who have 35 score as the lowest score.

Base on the table above, there are distinguish
between every single students score. Their score started from high up to low
scores. This can be concluded that some of them have mastered descriptive text
well, some of them have mastered but also there are some of students that have
many problems in writing descriptive text.
It can be seen on the table, there were 20 students got high scores,
then there were 9 of students got medium scores and there were 7 of students
got low scores. Its mean that, the
ability of fifth semester students of
English department IAIN Padangsidimpuan in writing descriptive text was
various.

After analyzing the students result in writing
descriptive text at fifth semester students of English department IAIN Padangsidimpuan.
It could be seen that there were 19% of
the students as lower levels category consist of 7 students, 25% students were
categorized as medium levels consist of 9 students, then 55,5% students were recognized
as higher levels consist of 20 students. Based on the mean score of the data
75,41 %. From this data, it could
conclude that students ability in writing descriptive text still excellent.
Therefore, this test have done by 36 students, while
the categorized to lower leves, medium levels and higher levels, the researcher
conclude it the students ability in writing descriptive text 75,41% was enough.
The test score become the data that were needed to
testing hypothesis as follow:

Based on the table VII above, it was known the
variable of writing descriptive text that
followed by 36 students, based on the total number of saample the higher
score was 100 and the lower score was 35. The
range score was 65, mean score was 75, 41, median was 74, 76 and modus
was in 62,22. Based on the data calculation, mean score was 75, 41, the researcher
concluded that the students ability in writing descriptive text at fifth
semester students of English department IAIN Padangsidimpuan was very good/
high level. It can be known from the interpretation table score in chapter III.
To know revelation of data was done to grouped the variable score of finding
writing in descriptive text which Interval.
To know the discovery of the data was dan to group
the variable score writing descriptive text which interval 11. So the computed
of the frequency distribution of the students score of group can be seen in to
table frequency distribution as follows:

In order to get comprehending the data clearly and completely, the
researcher presents the histogram by the following bellow:

According to figure above, it was
known the variable revelation the total number of 35 – 45 were 1 students
2,77%, in interval 46 – 56 were 2
students 5,55%, in interval 57 – 67 were 13 students 36,11%. In interval 68 –
78 were 3 students 8, 33%, in interval 79 – 89 were 8 students 22,22% and in
interval 90 – 100 were 9 students 23%.
So, this interval of the research used to show the calculate number of
sample who has score in percentages.
B.
Hypothesis Testing
The hypothesis at
fifth semester students of English department IAIN Padangsidimpuan, the students can not master english well. The
hypothesis is “The students’ ability in writing descriptive
text at fifth semester students
of English department IAIN Padangsidimpuan
is medium level.” Based on the all of the collection
data, to prove the hypothesis using z test as follow:

Based on calculating
above can be conclude zhitung = 6,428 > ztabel = 1,96 by level of significance 0.05. So, from the result above
the researcher concludes that the hypothesis:
the students ability in writing descriptive text at fifth semester students of
English department IAIN Padangsidimpuan was accepted.
In concluding, the
students ability at fifth semester students of English department IAIN
Padangsidimpuan was classified as medium level. It can be seen by calculate
mean score that was 74,76. Thus data, it can be stated that the hypothesis is accepted,
because the result of Z score is high than Z table.
C.
Discussion
In this research
discuss about the students ability in writing descriptive text be obtained by
theoretically. The researcher analyzed how is the student ability in writing
descriptive text at fifth semester students of English department IAIN
Padangsidimpuan.
There are some aspects
or indicators that the researcher analyzed to know their ability. The first aspect is content, organizations,
grammatical function, generic structure and mechanics. Each aspect has point or
score and the researcher calculate it to get the last point or score.
Base on the general
result of calculation, the researcher found out the mean was 74, 76, modus 62,
22, median 75,36. According to the classification theory the categorized as medium
level.
D.
The Threats Of The Research
In
this research, the writer believed that have so many threats. Start from the
title until research methodology. This research was far from perfect.
While
doing this research, there were so many threats of time because the students
have many activities to do and they have so many task to too. Therefore, the researcher give medium time to
students while do the test. So they did not do it well and seriously. But
because of the time the researcher just took out the answer sheet and did not
care it.
The researcher was aware all the things would want to be searched but to
get the excellence result from the research were the threats of the research.
The researcher has searched this research only. Finally, it has been done because the helping from the entire advisors and English teacher.
